Microphone Not Working? Try This

  • Allow access: click the lock or camera icon in the address bar and allow the microphone.
  • Check the default device: in Windows, go to Settings → System → Sound → Input. On macOS, System Settings → Sound → Input.
  • Close other apps like Zoom, Teams or Discord, which may be using the microphone.
  • Check the mute switch on your headset or cable.
  • Privacy settings: on Windows, make sure “Let apps access your microphone” is on.

Is This Mic Test Safe?

Yes. The audio is analysed in your browser with the Web Audio API to draw the waveform. Nothing is recorded, saved or sent to any server, and the microphone turns off when you click Stop or close the page.
